How to Upload a Resume on LinkedIn (and Who Sees It)
How to upload a resume on LinkedIn depends on who should see it. For job applications, upload it in Job Application Settings or attach it to an Easy Apply form; LinkedIn keeps your four most recent. To display it on your profile, add it to the Featured section, where anyone can see it but you can’t apply with it.

How to Upload a Resume on LinkedIn: Pick the Right Method
Saved and Easy Apply resumes reach only employers you apply to (plus recruiter matching if resume sharing is on). A Featured resume is public, and you can’t apply with it.
| Your goal | Use | Who sees it | Apply with it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apply to a LinkedIn job now | Easy Apply | That employer | Yes |
| Keep a resume ready | Job Application Settings | Employers you apply to | Yes |
| Get found by recruiters | A saved resume plus resume sharing | Recruiters find your profile, not the file | Yes |
| Show it to profile visitors | The Featured section | Anyone, possibly beyond LinkedIn | No |
On the app? LinkedIn’s Easy Apply steps cover phones too, but its Featured steps are for a computer, and Save to PDF isn’t in the mobile app.

Attach a Resume With Easy Apply
Easy Apply is LinkedIn’s built-in application form: upload a new file or pick a saved one. LinkedIn accepts only Microsoft Word or PDF and recommends files under 2MB.
- Search for a job and open its details.
- Click or tap Easy Apply. A plain Apply button sends you to the company’s site, where saved LinkedIn resumes can’t be reused Source: LinkedIn Help: Reuse a recently used resume for a job application, checked ; page date: 'Last updated: 3 years ago' (shown 2026-10-03).
- Complete the required fields.
- Under Resume (optional), select Upload resume or a recent resume.
- Click or tap Submit application.
Attach it before you submit: you can’t reopen an application to add one or reapply to the same post. If a file won’t attach, LinkedIn suggests trying another browser.

Add a Resume to Your LinkedIn Profile (Featured Section)
To show your resume on your profile, upload it to the Featured section. Viewers can download it, and LinkedIn says this copy can’t be used for job applications.

- Click Me, then View Profile.
- Click Add profile section.
- Under Recommended, click Add Featured.
- Click the Add icon on the Featured page.
- Choose the type of sample (an uploaded document counts as media) and follow the prompts.
- Click Save or Done.

Can Recruiters See My Resume on LinkedIn?
Not the file itself, unless you give it to them. With resume sharing on, your profile can appear in recruiter searches that match resumes you’ve saved in the past 2 years, but recruiters get a resume only when you apply or send it.
Sharing needs a saved resume, works only in English and is switched on by a prompt after you apply. Check Share resume data with recruiters under Jobs > Preferences > Resumes and application data. LinkedIn tries to hide shared resumes from Recruiter users at your current company but “can’t guarantee complete privacy”, so keep sharing off for a confidential search.

Saved resumes may also be used to personalise LinkedIn and, subject to your settings, to improve its AI models (LinkedIn Help, checked 3 October 2026).
Make the profile recruiters land on match the resume: a headline naming the role (try our LinkedIn headline generator), a custom profile URL and a correctly sized LinkedIn banner. If you also post on LinkedIn, Outfeed AI, our chat-based scheduler, publishes text posts and posts with one image or video. Connected with LinkedIn sign-in to your personal LinkedIn profile. Outfeed posts as you, the member; it does not post to LinkedIn Company Pages.
How to Replace or Delete a Saved Resume
LinkedIn Help offers upload and delete, not edit: to replace a saved resume, upload the new version, then delete the old one. Deleting doesn’t affect applications you’ve already submitted.
- Open Job Application Settings or Resumes and application data.
- Click the ellipsis (…) next to the resume.
- Select Delete.

For a Featured resume, click the Featured section’s Edit icon, then Remove from featured or Delete. LinkedIn says removed samples can’t be restored, so add the new one first.
Save Your LinkedIn Profile as a PDF Instead
No resume yet? On a computer, LinkedIn can save your profile as a resume-style PDF. It works only for English-language profiles, isn’t in the mobile app and is limited to 200 PDF downloads a month.
- Click Me, then View profile.
- Click More or Resources in your introduction section.
- Select Save to PDF.

Frequently Asked Questions
What file formats does LinkedIn accept for resumes?
Microsoft Word or PDF. LinkedIn Help says the file must be one of the two and recommends keeping it under 2MB when you attach a resume to an Easy Apply application.
How many resumes can I save on LinkedIn?
Four. LinkedIn keeps your four most recently uploaded resumes for reuse in Easy Apply on LinkedIn.com or the app, though not when a job sends you to the company’s own website.
Should I put my resume on my LinkedIn profile?
Only if you’re happy for anyone to see it. LinkedIn says a resume posted on your profile is visible to anyone viewing the profile and may be visible off LinkedIn. Viewers can download it, and you can’t apply for jobs with that copy.
Can I add a resume after applying on LinkedIn?
Not to an Easy Apply application you’ve already sent. LinkedIn says you can’t reopen it to attach a resume or reapply for the same job post; it suggests an InMail to the job poster if they listed contact information.
