TikTok Font Generator
Type once, copy styled text for your TikTok name, bio, captions and comments, and see what TikTok documents for each field before you paste.
TikTok rules checked 2026-10-02
A TikTok font generator swaps the letters you type for Unicode lookalikes (bold, script, circled and more) that you can paste into your TikTok name, bio, captions or comments. It can't change the font TikTok itself uses, and it can't go in a username. It is one of Outfeed AI's free social media tools.
TikTok does not document whether this field accepts styled text.
TikTok's help pages, checked 2026-10-02, do not say whether styled Unicode letters work in this field. People do paste styled text into fields like this, but Outfeed has not tested it in the app.

26 of 2,200 characters in bold (serif)
Styling costs 12 more than the same text in plain letters (14).
How this is counted: TikTok's Direct Post API: 'The maximum length is 2200 in UTF-16 runes.'
The in-app caption limit is widely reported as 4,000 characters (raised from 2,200); TikTok's help centre does not state it. The 2,200 figure is the API limit for video captions, which is what schedulers publish through.

Before you paste
- Accessibility: Styled text is made of Unicode symbols, not fonts. Screen readers may read the symbols one by one or skip them, search may not match them, and some devices show them as empty boxes. Use them sparingly, and never for information people need.
- TikTok: "Usernames can only contain letters, numbers, underscores, and periods." Styled letters therefore never work in a username.

What font does TikTok use? TikTok Sans, explained
TikTok uses TikTok Sans, its own custom typeface. Here is what TikTok says about it in its newsroom announcement and on the TikTok for Developers blog (checked 2026-10-02):
- TikTok Sans is TikTok's custom typeface, introduced 'across in-app and brand touchpoints'; it replaced Proxima Nova.
- TikTok calls it 'the core font behind the TikTok experience, from text overlays on videos and images to the entire interface'.
- It was created with the type foundry Grilli Type.
- TikTok released it as an open-source font under the SIL Open Font License 1.1; it is on Google Fonts and GitHub.
- In the TikTok app it is available as 'Classic', 'Bold', 'Oblique' and other font options.
TikTok Sans styles the text TikTok draws itself, such as text overlays on videos and the app's interface. A font generator can't change that. It gives you Unicode symbols that sit inside a text field and show in whatever font the viewer's device has for them.
TikTok also says the typeface has built-in anti-spoofing features: alternate shapes for letters and numbers that are easily mixed up. Look-alike letters are exactly what spoofing relies on, which is one more reason they don't belong in a handle. Want TikTok's real font on a thumbnail or video graphic instead? It's open source, so get it from TikTok's developer post above.
TikTok username vs bio, name and captions: the field rules
Of the fields this tool covers, only the username is documented as plain text only. TikTok's rule: "Usernames can only contain letters, numbers, underscores, and periods." Periods can't go at the end, and the whole handle must be 2 to 24 characters. Every other field is not documented: TikTok's help pages, checked 2026-10-02, say nothing about styled letters in captions, comments, the bio or the name.
| Field | Styled text | Length rule |
|---|---|---|
| Video caption | Not documented | 2,200 UTF-16 units through TikTok's posting API |
| Comment | Not documented | TikTok doesn't publish a limit |
| Bio | Not documented | TikTok doesn't publish a limit |
| Name (nickname) | Not documented | Up to 30 characters; change once every 7 days |
| Username | Plain text only | 2 to 24 characters; change once every 30 days |
TikTok publishes no bio or comment length, so the tool shows no count against a limit for those two fields. On captions: The in-app caption limit is widely reported as 4,000 characters (raised from 2,200); TikTok's help centre does not state it. The 2,200 figure is the API limit for video captions, which is what schedulers publish through. The 30-character name figure comes from an archived copy of TikTok's nickname help page. Run a bold ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฆ๐ through TikTok's published username rules and it fails: "Only letters, numbers, underscores (_) and periods (.). Remove any spaces, emoji, styled letters or other symbols." To test a plain handle against the same published rules, use the social media username checker, or get ideas from the TikTok username generator.
How to use the TikTok font generator
- Type or paste your text. Styled text you paste in is turned back into plain letters first.
- Pick where you'll paste it: name, bio, caption, comment or username. The verdict and source update, and the caption and name fields also get a count against their limit.
- Compare styles. Press Preview to see one in the mock-up card, and watch the count under each style: in a caption, "yourname" counts 8 in plain letters and 16 in bold.
- Copy and paste it into TikTok, then check it on your phone before you save.
Writing the words is the harder part. The TikTok bio generator and TikTok caption generator draft them, and the Unicode text converter shows what each styled letter costs on every platform. For emoji, start with these bio emoji ideas.
Styled text, TikTok search and accessibility
Styled text is made of Unicode symbols, not fonts. Screen readers may read the symbols one by one or skip them, search may not match them, and some devices show them as empty boxes. Use them sparingly, and never for information people need.
A screen reader that announces character names could read a bold "Hi" as "mathematical bold capital h, mathematical bold small i". So keep the searchable words of a caption in plain letters, along with any hashtags. Style one line, such as your name or the first line of your bio, and never put something people need, like a date or a price, in styled text. Strikethrough and underline add a mark after every character, emoji included, which can split a multi-part emoji such as a flag or a skin-tone emoji, so add emoji after you paste (the emoji keyboard shortcut is quickest). TikTok's hidden bracket codes, such as [smile], are in our TikTok emoji codes list.
Post it to TikTok with Outfeed
Outfeed AI can draft captions in your brand voice and post them to TikTok and 8 other platforms from one chat. One thing to know first: TikTok posts from Outfeed currently publish as private, visible only to the connected account, while TikTok reviews the Outfeed app. Our guide to scheduling TikTok posts covers TikTok's own scheduler for videos you want public now.
Frequently Asked Questions
What font does TikTok use?
TikTok uses TikTok Sans, its own custom typeface, which replaced Proxima Nova. TikTok created it with the type foundry Grilli Type and calls it "the core font behind the TikTok experience, from text overlays on videos and images to the entire interface". A font generator can't change it; it only gives you Unicode symbols to paste into text fields.
Is TikTok Sans free to download?
Yes. TikTok released TikTok Sans as an open-source font under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, and it is on Google Fonts and GitHub. Start from TikTok's own announcement on its developer blog rather than a third-party download mirror, so you get the real files.
Can I use a fancy font in my TikTok username?
No. TikTok says usernames can only contain letters, numbers, underscores and periods, must be 2 to 24 characters long, and can't end with a period. Styled Unicode letters are none of those, so TikTok won't accept them. Put styled text in your name (nickname) instead and keep the @username plain.
Can I use these fonts in my TikTok bio, name and captions?
TikTok doesn't document it either way. Its help pages, checked 2026-10-02, say nothing about styled letters in the bio, name, captions or comments. People paste styled text into those fields widely, but Outfeed hasn't tested it in the app, so preview it on your phone before you save. TikTok also doesn't say how styled letters count toward the 30-character name limit, so leave room.
What are TikTok's Classic, Bold and Oblique fonts?
TikTok says its own typeface, TikTok Sans, is available in the app as 'Classic', 'Bold', 'Oblique' and other font options. Those fonts style text that TikTok draws itself, such as text on a video. A font generator does something else: it gives you Unicode symbols for text fields like your bio or a caption.
Why do some styled letters show as boxes on TikTok?
The device showing them has no font that contains that symbol, so it draws an empty box instead. Some styles use rarer symbols than others. For example, the small capital q is missing from most fonts, which is why this tool leaves q plain in the small-capitals style. Pick another style and check it on a phone before posting.
