Meta Business Suite: What It Is and How to Use It
Meta Business Suite is Meta’s tool for managing a business across its own apps (Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp) from one place. You plan and schedule posts, stories and reels, answer messages and comments in one Inbox, read Insights and run simple ads, on a computer or in the app for iPhone and Android.
Where to open it: on a computer, go to business.facebook.com or click Meta Business Suite in your Facebook Page’s left menu. On a phone, install the Meta Business Suite app. No Page yet? Our guide to using Facebook explains profiles and Pages first.

What is Meta Business Suite?
Meta Business Suite is Meta’s workspace for small businesses and creators: one place to run a Facebook Page, an Instagram professional account and the rest of your presence on Meta’s apps. Meta’s overview names Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp. Anything outside Meta, such as TikTok, LinkedIn or X, needs another tool. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: How Meta Business Suite works
If you’ve seen it called Facebook Business Suite, that’s the same product. Facebook launched it under that name on 17 September 2020, for small businesses first, so they could post to Facebook and Instagram at once and handle messages and notifications in one place. It took the Meta name in the company’s rebrand, announced in October 2021. Meta gives no separate date for the Suite itself. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: Schedule Facebook and Instagram content on Meta Business Suite mobile app
Most of the old Creator Studio’s tools moved in too, so creators publish, bulk upload, run A/B tests, check insights and monetize here. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: About creator tools in Meta Business Suite
Meta’s help centre calls it a free platform, and ad spend for ads and boosts is separate; see our Meta Business Suite pricing breakdown.
What do you need before you can use Meta Business Suite?
A business portfolio, the Facebook Page or Instagram professional account you want to manage inside it, and the right access to them. Meta states that you need a business portfolio to use Meta Business Suite; the portfolio holds the Pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts and people the Suite manages. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: About business portfolios
Check three things before you start:
- A business portfolio. You may know it by its older name, Business Manager. Our guide to setting up a business portfolio walks through it.
- An Instagram professional account. Only professional accounts can be added to a portfolio, and Meta may ask you to switch a personal one. Each Instagram account can be in only one portfolio, and one linked to a personal Facebook profile rather than a Page can’t be added.
- The right access. Creating posts needs full control of the Page or Instagram account, or Content permission for it. Adding an Instagram account needs full control of the portfolio.
Using Meta Business Suite for Instagram starts with adding the account. Meta’s steps come from its articles on adding an Instagram account on desktop and connecting one in the app; the app route also needs Facebook access to a Page. One set of app steps covers every phone:
On a computer:
- Go to Settings in Meta Business Suite for your business portfolio.
- Click Instagram accounts below Accounts in the left menu.
- Click Add, review the information, then click Add Instagram account.
- Log in to Instagram in the new window (set up a professional account if prompted).
- Enter your security code if you use two-factor authentication, then click Confirm.
On any device:
- In the Meta Business Suite app, tap More in the bottom menu bar.
- Tap Settings, then tap Connect next to Instagram.
- Tap Connect account and choose whether to allow access to Instagram messages in Inbox.
- Tap Confirm, log in to the Instagram account, review the information and tap Continue.
- Tap OK on the confirmation screen.

What can you do in Meta Business Suite?
Seven areas cover nearly everything: Home, Planner, Create post, Inbox, Insights, ads and boosts, and, on a computer, an All tools menu that links to Meta’s other business tools. Most are in the app too. Descriptions follow Meta’s desktop articles unless the app is named.
| Area | What it does | Computer | App |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home | To-do list plus recent and scheduled content; in the app, notifications, recent content, ads from the last 14 days and insights | Yes | Yes |
| Planner | Week or month calendar of posts, stories, reels and ads, filterable by content type and destination | Yes | Yes |
| Create post | Publish or schedule to a Facebook Page, Instagram profile or Facebook Group | Yes | Yes, under Content (Facebook and Instagram) |
| Inbox | Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp messages, plus comments on Facebook and Instagram posts | Yes | Yes |
| Insights | Organic and paid results for your Page and Instagram profile | Yes | Yes, on Home |
| Ads and boosts | Simple ads and boosted posts; detailed campaigns belong in Ads Manager | Yes | Yes |
| All tools | Ads Manager, Reach Planner, Events Manager, Business Support Home, Billing & payments, Page settings | Yes | No |

Planner shows what’s been published on your Page or Instagram account, plus what’s scheduled in the Suite. Its Moments feature, for important dates, is only available to US-based businesses for now, and a missing Planner can mean you lack the permissions it needs. Inbox adds labels, filters, automated replies, a status and a leads tab. It only shows comments from connected business assets, and some messaging features are unavailable for businesses in or reaching Europe and Japan. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: About Inbox in Meta Business Suite
Insights tabs may include Overview (the past 28 days), Results, Audience, Content and Ads; not every account sees all of them. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: About Insights in Meta Business Suite on desktop
On a computer, the Suite can also post and cross-post to a Facebook Group, and Planner can filter by Group, though Meta doesn’t say which Groups qualify. Planning around a Group? How do you create and schedule a post in Meta Business Suite?
On a computer you start from Create post; in the app, from Content. Either way you build the post once, then publish it now or give it a date and time. Meta’s desktop steps:
On a computer:
- Go to Meta Business Suite.
- Click Create post (from the home page or the Content tab).
- Under Post to, select your Facebook Page, Instagram profile or Facebook Group.
- Under Media, add your photos (the limit for posting to Instagram is 10 photos).
- Under Post details, write your text. You can customize the text for Facebook and Instagram.
- Under Privacy settings, choose Public or Restricted.
- To schedule, under Scheduling options select the date and time (Active times suggests times based on the past 7 days).
- Click Publish, Schedule or Finish later.
Checked against Meta Business Help Center: Create and manage posts in Meta Business Suite on desktop.
Scheduled posts then wait under Content > Posts & reels, on the Scheduled tab, where you can edit, reschedule, move them to drafts or delete them. If you rely on Active times, compare it with the best time to post on Facebook.
In the app, Meta’s mobile scheduling article gives one set of steps for iPhone and Android, and says you can then find your content in the app’s Planner. You need at least partial access to the accounts, and Meta notes the mobile experience may not be available to you yet:
On any device:
- Open the Meta Business Suite app and tap Content in the bottom menu bar.
- Select the content type at the top (for example Posts, Reels or Stories).
- Tap Create, then add text and media.
- Tap Next.
- To schedule, tap Schedule for later, pick the date and time, then tap Schedule.

Other Facebook routes, including the Facebook app and Groups, are in how to schedule Facebook posts; Instagram’s in-app scheduler is in how to schedule Instagram posts.
The scheduling window Meta publishes for the Suite
For a Facebook Page post, between 20 minutes and 29 days ahead, in your current time zone. That’s the only window Meta publishes for the Suite. It gives none for Instagram content scheduled there or for Page Stories and Reels, and it states no daily cap. Checked against Facebook Help Center: Schedule a post and manage scheduled posts for your Facebook Page
If your audience lives in another time zone, convert first: Facebook’s help article on scheduling Page posts says all scheduling times follow your current one.
The other numbers you’ll see belong to Instagram’s own app. Older guides quote 75 days: Instagram’s scheduling help article said that until February 2026 and now reads “up to 25 posts a day, up to 30 days in advance”. None of them is published for the Suite. For what the Suite costs and where its free tier stops, see our Meta Business Suite pricing breakdown.
What’s different in the Meta Business Suite app?
The app handles the daily work: Home, Content, Inbox, insights and ads. Three things stay on the computer: cross-posting to Threads, cross-posting a Facebook post or reel to Facebook Stories, and the All tools section. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: About cross-posting to Facebook, Instagram and Threads in Meta Business Suite
Meta describes one app for iPhone and Android, with no documented difference between them. Its Home shows notifications, recent content you can boost, ads from the last 14 days and insights across Facebook and Instagram, with Content and Inbox in the bottom menu bar. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: About Home in Meta Business Suite mobile app
On a computer, cross-posting reaches further than many people expect. A Facebook or Instagram post can go to the other app’s feed, its own app’s Stories, Facebook Groups and Threads; a story to the other app’s Stories; and a reel to its own app’s Stories, the other app’s Reels and Facebook Groups. The Page and Instagram account must be connected and in the same portfolio, and Threads needs its profile added too. Separate Threads access settings are rolling out gradually from September 2026, so yours may not have changed yet. Sharing from Facebook to Instagram has its own guide: how to share Facebook posts to Instagram.
How does Meta Business Suite fit with your portfolio and Ads Manager?
The business portfolio owns your assets, Meta Business Suite is where you work with them every day, and Ads Manager is for detailed ad campaigns. Meta says the Suite and Ads Manager can be used at the same time for different tasks.
| Tool | What it is | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Business portfolio | The container for your Pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts and the people who can access them; older guides call it Business Manager | Ownership, people and permissions; you need one to use the Suite |
| Meta Business Suite | The everyday workspace on top of the portfolio | Organic scheduling, Inbox, Insights, simple ads and scheduled boosts |
| Ads Manager | Meta’s full advertising tool, linked from All tools | Campaigns with multiple ad sets, custom audience targeting, ad scheduling, A/B tests, retargeting and Shops ads |

If you last used Business Manager years ago, its Business settings now sit under Settings in Meta Business Suite: people, partners, accounts, data sources, brand safety, payments, security and more. Labels vary by account, so look for Settings rather than a fixed menu path. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: About Settings in Meta Business Suite

What can’t Meta Business Suite do?
It can’t publish anywhere outside Meta. The Suite covers Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp, so TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Pinterest and Bluesky each need their own app and their own calendar, and Planner only ever shows your Meta content. It’s built for business assets such as Pages and Instagram professional accounts, not personal profiles: Inbox won’t even show comments on your personal profile. Checked against Meta Business Help Center: How Meta Business Suite works
None of that makes it a weak tool. If Facebook and Instagram are your whole mix, it’s the natural place to work.
When you need more than Meta’s apps
Once TikTok or LinkedIn joins the plan, Outfeed AI, which we make, comes in: you describe a post in a chat, and it goes out to Facebook Pages plus Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest and Bluesky.
Know the limits first. On Facebook, Outfeed posts to Pages only: no Groups or Stories, one photo or video per post, and video goes up through Meta’s Page API rather than Facebook’s Reels tools. It publishes through Meta’s Page API at the time you pick instead of using the Suite’s scheduler, so its posts won’t show as scheduled in Planner. Instagram gets feed posts, carousels and Reels, not Stories. LinkedIn posts go to your personal profile, not a Company Page. TikTok posts publish as private for now, while TikTok reviews our app, and X posts are text-only, with a monthly allowance. With no inbox and no analytics in Outfeed, keep the Suite open for messages and Insights.
Starter is a flat $29/mo, not per seat, for 10 accounts, 100 posts a month and 1 team member. Starter includes a 3-day free trial with 100 AI credits. Card required. Pro and Agency are billed from the first day.

Meta Business Suite FAQ
Is Meta Business Suite the same as Business Manager?
No. Meta Business Suite is where you post, answer messages and read Insights. Business Manager is the older name you’ll see in guides and in Meta’s 2023 help pages; Meta now calls the container for your Pages, Instagram accounts, ad accounts and people a business portfolio. You need one to use the Suite, and its old Business settings now sit under Settings in the Suite.
How do I add Instagram to Meta Business Suite?
Use a professional Instagram account: Meta only lets you add professional accounts to a business portfolio, and may ask you to set one up if yours is personal. On a computer, open Settings in Meta Business Suite, click Instagram accounts under Accounts, then Add. In the app, tap More, then Settings, then Connect next to Instagram. Each Instagram account can be in only one portfolio.
Why is Meta Business Suite not showing my Page?
Start with the dropdown in the top left, where you pick the Facebook Page or Instagram account to work on. If it isn’t listed, check that it has been added to your business portfolio and that you have access to it: creating posts needs full control or Content permission, and Meta says a missing Planner can mean missing permissions.
Can I post to Threads or WhatsApp from Meta Business Suite?
Threads, yes, on a computer: you can cross-post a Facebook or Instagram post to Threads once your Threads profile is added to your business portfolio. Meta doesn’t say whether that cross-post can be scheduled. WhatsApp works differently: Meta’s cross-posting destinations are Facebook, Instagram and Threads, and WhatsApp appears in the Suite through Inbox, where you read and reply to messages.
